Successful Life vs Satisfied Life

if I ask you to choose between Successful Life and Satisfied Life and give you just 3 sec to answer, what will you choose?

Successful Life vs Satisfied Life is a very big question, and its answer is much more complex to be answered instantly

Let me present a story before you.

Let, Rohan, is a 7-year-old school-going boy, and his father Rajbeer is a central govt. Clark, his mother Sushma is a typical simple housewife, Jogendar is his grandfather, a retired primary school teacher, and Jhilmil is Rohan's 2-year-old sister. They have their own one-storied pucca house.

This is a simple complete family, that has a decent income and a goal for a successful life ahead. However, the perspective of seeing a successful life is different from each other. Let's explore.

Rohan is just a 7-year-old kid. Success means to him playing all day round, and satisfaction is doing no homework. Every day while returning from school he often sees big brothers from his locality doing things, some of them are pleasant and some of them not, but his little heart wants to do all such actions that justify his maturity.

Rajbeer is the sole earner of the family. His ultimate goal is to upbringing his children with quality and to buy all happiness for himself & his family. But due to increasing expenses day by day, he is cent per cent sure that earning more and more is the only key to a successful life. This is not easily possible with the meagre salary of his clerical job, so he started looking for extra income. As a result, his labour increased and his presence with kids decreased. Now Rajveer’s good mood has started to grow into a bad mood.

Sushma is the beloved mother of Rohan & Jhilmil. She is not much educated. Family is her only priority. She does not know much about successful life but strongly knows a satisfied life. She finds her satisfaction in serving her family. Her daily chore started at 5 am by making breakfast for everyone, then making a full meal for Rajbeer. Nursing daughter and bathing and making Rohan ready for school. Next washing clothes & dishes and give bathing water to her Father-in-law feeding him a meal & medicine. After taking a bath herself and giving a bath to her daughter and having lunch it's nearly time to pick up Rohan from school. Resting Jhilmil to her grandfather she rushed to the school to fetch Rohan. After bringing Rohan home and eating and sleeping, the afternoon came to the doorstep. After making a small snack of afternoon tea, giving it to her father-in-law and feeding Rohan, the afternoon rolled around, and the evening came. Just after lighting a lamp to worship god, it's time to make dinner. Meanwhile, Rajbeer comes home from his office, and she has to make tea and snack for him also. By the night 9 pm after having dinner and doing all the necessary work clock ticked at 11 pm, and now it is time to sleep. All day round Sushma has to do something, and she merely has free time for herself, though she is doing all her duty with affection and has a smile on her face all time, which indicates her satisfaction doing her duty towards family.

Jogendar is the oldest person in this family and has given all his life to this family. He had the same mentality as Rajbeer has now.  He now knows money cannot buy all happiness. This realization comes to him when Mina his wife aka Rajbeer's mother passed away in just 2 days fever. All his life he was running for success and money he never spent a sufficient amount of time with his family, nor even tried to know what his wife wants, son wants. He took all the decisions for all and ordered them to comply with the norms he decided. He was more Hitler than a father to Rajbeer. Meena was secretive, never letting anyone know her sadness. When typhoid took root in the body, it was dismissed as a common fever. Without timely proper treatment, Mina breathed her last breath at a very young age. Throughout his life, Jogendar achieved fame, money and a reputation for his dedication towards his work. At this stage of his life, he is seeking the closeness of his son & wife and wants to spend more and more time with them but this is not going to happen because Mina left this world and Rajbeer is busy at his work. Though Sushma his daughter-in-law takes care of him as her child, he can't share all things with her. Somehow he is all alone in his family. His successful reputed life couldn't bring satisfaction in his life.

What do you understand? Did you notice that the meaning of successful life is changed over time?

The point of view of a Successful life is also influenced by others. In the story, you have seen Rohan's perspective changing gradually towards the actions of big brothers from his locality.

In your childhood, you may have seen many superhero dramas and you wanted to be the superhero, don't you? In my time Saktiman and Junior-G was the most popular show on TV and most child wants to be like them, I am not an exception to that.

Over time we engaged in competition, that started in our education and spread throughout all aspects of our life. Competitiveness, money, materialistic joy, reputation achievement etc become our focus for a successful life. By doing so intentionally or intentionally we are hurting others and getting hurt.

What we see, what we learn and what we decide is being influenced by others in every moment directly or indirectly. As a kid, his parents are his first idol and he wants to be like them. Then with education, and life's experience, we build our uniqueness in this world.

At the end of our life's journey, when life plays our entire life before us we tend to have a Satisfied life. Prioritizing successful life all time cannot bring a Satisfied life to our wish. What we are today is the cumulative result of our every day doing.

If Jogendar was maintained his work-life balance efficiently he may not have had that much success in his life but had a Satisfied life. His wife may be with him. Now Rajbeer walking on the same path, it's time for Jogendar to give Rajveer insightful advice from his life experience so that he may not suffer like him by maintaining a work-life balance.

You may be thinking then how Rajveer can achieve all his goals. upbringing his children with quality? you may also say uhu, without ample money it is not possible.

Now see your question again, is anything mentioned about "money" in your question? No? So then How do you determine that money needs to achieve the goals and upbringing of children? The answer is the inner meaning of the questions. I know without money it is not possible, but money is not the only way there are so many things that are also responsible for achieving anything.

Let me give an example, you eat meat in restaurants you liked it, and the same meat is cooked by your mother you liked that more, if I ask you WHY? You would simply answer, Dude, no one can beat the taste of mom's cooking. In both scenarios, you paid money, in the first scenario money is the only factor but in the 2nd scenario money and the mother's love is the dual factor that made the meat more delicious. is not it?

Up to a certain point, money brings happiness but after that nothing can give you satisfaction. Did you notice many billionaires donate their money to find inner satisfaction? Why are they doing so if money can bring all happiness and satisfaction?!

One more thing to be said to achieve a Satisfied life, in this world being secretive you can not achieve anything, so be expressive. In the story, you see Sushma is doing all chores with satisfaction but she has not any time for her. Over time her body will not support that much labour, and she has to take rest. However, she is not expressing anything to either Rajbeer or Jogendar. if this goes like that she will end up like her mother-in-law Mina. Like other duties of Sushma, she has to express her needs to her family member, and family members have to support her. We are social animals without giving and getting support from each other we can not survive.

So by maintaining a proper Work-life balance and supporting each other in the family we can achieve a long-lasting satisfied life which is far better than an isolated successful life. What do you say? waiting for your response...
